Organized February 2,1979
Mary Bryan Chapter, NSDAR, was named for Mary Hunt Bryan born on April 22, 1758 and died August 9, 1842 in Marion County, Indiana; daughter of Isabell Hampton and Jonathan Hunt, who was a Company Commander and member of the Safety Committee in Rowan County, North Carolina during the American Revolutionary War. In 1775, Mary married Samuel Bryan, born May 6, 1756 in Rowan County, North Carolina; March 4, 1837 in Marion County, Indiana; son of William Bryan and Mary Boone (sister of Daniel). Bryan served in the American Revolutionary War from South Carolina. The Bryans had 11 children. They followed a son, Luke, to Indiana in 1830 and bought land near what is now Southport. Mary and her Revolutionary War soldier husband are buried in Pioneer Cemetery on Southport Road in Marion County, Indiana. Our chapter is named after a true daughter of the American Revolution.

We are a volunteer Women's service organization that honors and preserves the legacy of our patriot ancestors.
Any woman 18 years of age or older who can prove lineal descent from a Patriot of the American Revolution is eligible to join.
